FC30 Pro Wireless Controller | First Impressions

Thursday 22 June 2017

Whilst I was away James got a new controller to use, he wanted one which he could use wirelessly on a number of different products so he chose the FC30 Pro Game Controller which has built-in Bluetooth. When he sent me a picture of it, it looked tiny but when I got home and got a chance to hold it, it actually fits really well in both of my hands and the analogue sticks are easy to use whilst holding the controller. What I liked most about it was the design, is that it's not like the other controllers I own, I really like the gold interface of it and the red lines around the interface, I think it looks pretty. The main device James wanted this controller for was the RaspberryPi, the controllers that came with it weren't all that great but he seems to be really pleased with this the FC30.

The FC30 Pro Game Controller is compatible with IOS, Mac, OS, Windows and Android, Nintendo Switch, Raspberry Pi, as I said before it has built in Bluetooth which you can use to connect to your device or use the USB cable the comes with it. As well as having a lovely gold interface this controller has a D-Pad, four face buttons, four shoulder buttons (L1/2 R1/2) and dual analogue sticks. You won't need to use batteries inside the controller as it's rechargeable and the battery can last up to 18 hours, you can also charge it using the micro USB cable which can be used to update the firmware for the controller, you get a free a keyring with it which is a little random.

This controller isn't cheap, it costs around £30 which is nearly as expensive as a simple Xbox One or PS4 controller, the thing I like most about the controller is that you can use it to play games on your phone, you can buy a cradle which the controller and phone both sit in making it into a handheld console. I haven't tried it out for myself on a mobile, but I can already tell it will make me want to play games on my phone a lot more than I usually do, I've seen videos of people using it to play Minecraft via their phone which make playing it on your phone a lot more easier. the FC30 also makes it easier to play the Wii, I don't know about anyone else but I hate the Wii controllers I find them very frustrating to use, I wasn't a huge fan of the gamepad controller you can get for the Wii either, I think a lot of people would find it much smoother using the FC30 through their Wii instead.

All in all this the perfect controller for kids and families, it's lightweight the buttons aren't soft click but you don't have to press down too hard on them and it has flashing LED lights on the bottom bit of the controller. If you're looking for an old school looking controller that also has Bluetooth you can also get the NES30 Pro which is around the same price as the FC30. These controllers are available to buy on Amazon and you can check buy 8Bitdo website to check out what other controllers they have. I want to eventually do a post on how well it controls mobile phone games, So keep an eye out for that!

  1. I have to hold my hands up and confess I am a terrible gamer - but I love gaming and watching other people play them (is that wrong?) so I love this post! I really like these old-school style controllers I'm seeing everywhere, it takes me right back to my childhood when I used to watch my brother playing Spyro and Crash Bandicoot! :D I feel like I should expand on my skills next year as a mini challenge to myself so I try using something cool like this - maybe I'll be able to improve on my skills! Loved this post. - Tasha
